Biography
Dr. Yuyeon Jang is the R&D Team Leader at MetaImmuneTech, where she leads the development and evaluation of innovative diagnostic technologies. She holds a Ph.D. in Biotechnology and Bioinformatics from Korea University, with a research focus in immunology. She has published five peer-reviewed papers and holds three patents.
Dr. Jang contributed to the validation of MetaImmuneTech’s LSIT-based platform, Cellytics, which was recognized at CES 2024 and the MEDITEK Innovation Awards 2024. She is currently collaborating with the Korean Institute of Tuberculosis to apply this technology toward latent tuberculosis diagnosis.
Key Impacts
Lens-free shadow imaging technology-based quantification of T cell activation for latent tuberculosis diagnosis
This LSIT-based platform enables rapid, label-free, and quantitative assessment of T cell activation at the single-cell level through morphological analysis. The technology demonstrates strong potential as a cost-effective diagnostic tool for LTBI detection, especially in resource-limited settings. By eliminating the need for specialized reagents, reducing incubation time, and providing quantitative results, this approach may complement or improve upon current IGRA-based diagnostics, contributing to more effective tuberculosis control and prevention strategies.
