Key Impacts

Outcomes of short-course regimens in the treatment of drug-resistant TB in people with TB & HIV, TB & hepatitis, TB & HIV & hepatitis, and TB in Kazakhstan

TB-only patients had the highest success rate (85.5%), followed by TB+HIV (82.6%), TB+Hepatitis (81.2%), and TB+HIV+Hepatitis (64.1%).The highest mortality was in TB+HIV+Hepatitis (7.7%).Adverse events were most frequent in TB+HIV+Hepatitis (88.6%).Short-course regimens are effective for RR/MDR-TB, especially in patients without co-infections. Co-infected patients had lower success rates and higher adverse events, highlighting the need for tailored approaches and antiviral therapy in TB+Hepatitis cases.
