Biography

Dr. Raj is a Senior Research Scientist at the National Disease Modelling Consortium, IIT Bombay, India. She specializes in using mathematical modelling to study the transmission dynamics of infectious diseases, with a current focus on tuberculosis. She completed her PhD in modelling HIV dynamics. She has experience of working in AMR. She in collaboration with Infectious Disease Modelling team of IDM, Seattle has proposed a novel agent based model for HPV vaccination. She is now working closely with the Central TB Division, India, to develop models that inform policy decisions for tuberculosis prevention and control.

Key Impacts

Modelling the epidemiological impact of strengthening intensified TB case-finding in health facilities in India

These findings highlight the untapped potential of health facilities as key entry points for systematic TB screening in India. Further analysis of cost-effectiveness will facilitate programmatic decision-making. Overall, by reaching individuals who are already seeking care, we can detect cases earlier, and substantially reduce transmission.
