Biography

Dr. Zhao is a full professor and a key figure in China's fight against tuberculosis. As Director of both the National Tuberculosis Reference Laboratory and the National Tuberculosis Control and Prevention Center at China CDC, he oversees the technical management of the country's TB control and prevention network, capacity building initiatives, and nationwide anti-TB drug resistance surveillance. His extensive research, detailed in over two hundred international publications, focuses on the molecular epidemiology and epigenetics of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, drug resistance surveillance, and new diagnostics, among others.
