Biography

Xi Zhu is a PhD student specializing in Epidemiology at the School of Public Health(Shenzhen), Sun Yat-sen University. She obtained an academic Master's degree in Pathogen Biology from the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention. She completed her Bachelor's degree in Preventive Medicine at the School of Public Health, Central South University. Her PhD research focuses on "Heterogeneity of Mycobacterium tuberculosis Transmission in a Complex Urban Population and Targeted Community Intervention Study." She aims to integrate pathogen biology, genomic epidemiology, spatial analysis, and phylodynamics to explore the drivers of tuberculosis transmission and to provide guidance for public health policies.

Long-term transmission dynamics and phylogeography of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in an emerging city in China: A population-based phylodynamic analysis

Shenzhen’s TB epidemic shows sustained growth, driven mainly by L2 strains, especially L2.3. Our results emphasize the urgent need for TB control in Baoan, particularly in CBD and industrial areas. Routine WGS surveillance will enhance understanding of TB biology and transmission and improve targeted responses.
