Biography

I am a postdoctoral research fellow working in tuberculosis (TB) diagnostics with particular interest in improving diagnosis of TB in children. My post-PhD research experience spans various basic medical research themes in tuberculosis including diagnostics, disease epidemiology, host-pathogen interaction, and host immune responses. My overarching career goal is to deepen our understanding of host-pathogen interactions in TB and discover innovative approaches to improve TB diagnosis in high-burden settings.

Key Impacts

Diagnostic performance of an optimised computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) for TB algorithm on chest radiographs from an exclusively paediatric population in The Gambia

The optimized qXR CAD system could enhance the diagnosis of tuberculosis in children < 15 years, including those missed by conventional microbiological tests, particularly in resource-limited settings where expert radiological interpretation is scarce.
