TB funding in Nigeria: The politics of resource allocation, donor dependence, and accountability challenges

Bridging Nigeria’s TB funding gap and reducing donor dependence requires increased domestic investment and strong political commitment. The involvement of influential figures as TB advocates and ambassadors, such as the Nigerian First Lady, who has donated N2 billion ($1,285,718.88) from her foundation within one year to the fight against TB, has become exemplary. Establishing legal and institutional frameworks will also improve transparency and accountability in the disbursement of funds to achieve sustainable TB funding towards the ENDTB goals.
