Biography

Dr Valérie Donkeng is a microbiologist and Head of the Mycobacteriology Unit at Centre Pasteur du Cameroon, where she leads the National Reference Laboratory for Tuberculosis. Her work is driven by a strong commitment to quality, innovation, and public health impact. She works closely with the National Tuberculosis Program to strengthen the TB laboratory network, implement new diagnostic tools, and improve case detection in Cameroon. She oversees the laboratory’s ISO 15189 quality management system, ensuring excellence and reliability in diagnostic services. In addition, she manages External Quality Assessment panels for tuberculosis diagnosis, including Microscopy, TB-LAMP, and GeneXpert, across the TB laboratory network. Dr Donkeng is also involved in several research projects on mycobacteria, particularly those focusing on latent tuberculosis infection, asymptomatic tuberculosis, and drug resistance.
