Biography

Ass Prof Uzochukwu Ofonakara is a consultant Physician (CH). He holds MBBS, MPH, MSc (Pharmac), MSc (Epid), LMH, IEG, PhD, FWACP and FMCPH. He is an associate Professor and has published numerous papers in both national and international journals. He has also presented papers at national and international conferences and has devoted time to training both medical students and resident doctors. He is currently a Director with the Nigerian National Primary Health Care Development Agency. His research interests are enormous and cut across, Tobacco, Tuberculosis, and Lung diseases as well as Childhood diseases, Cancers, Diabetes mellitus, CVDs, and NTDs.

The effectiveness of quitline intervention on knowledge of harmful effects of smokeless tobacco use among residents of Ebonyi State, Nigeria

There was a significant increase in the proportion of participants with good knowledge of the harmful effects of smokeless tobacco use post-intervention. Therefore, community members should be educated on the dangers of smokeless tobacco use.
