Biography

Uvi is a paediatrician with a strong academic focus on post-infective immune dysregulation, particularly in MTB, EBV and SARS-CoV-2. His current work explores host immune responses in adolescents, leveraging novel immunodiagnostics and host-directed therapies to improve care, rehabilitation, and incipient disease prediction. Having personally recovered from DR-TB and multiple severe SARS-CoV-2 infections, Uvi brings unique lived experience to his research. This perspective fuels his commitment to translating basic science into better clinical outcomes whilst always advocating for the most at-risk populations. He believes that empathy and hope must always remain at the heart of academic and clinical practice.
