Biography
Dr. Uladzimir Antonenka is the Head of International Cooperation at the Institute of Microbiology and Laboratory Medicine, a WHO Supranational Reference Laboratory for Tuberculosis based in Gauting, Germany. Together with his team, he supports National Tuberculosis Programs across Eastern Europe and Central Asia by optimizing laboratory networks and workflows, developing diagnostic algorithms, and implementing both conventional and rapid TB diagnostic methods, along with Quality Management Systems.
Key Impacts
Improved internal quality control enhances accuracy of drug susceptibility testing in Eastern Europe and Central Asia
Our MIC-based IQC protocol provides a more discriminative and robust method to ensure pDST accuracy by detecting batch-specific errors in drug preparation. The improved accuracy observed in partner laboratories supports the adoption of MIC-based IQC as a best practice, particularly for laboratories using new or repurposed anti-TB drugs. Global pDST quality assurance strategies should consider this approach.
