Biography

Dr. Tran received her PhD in public health from the National Cancer Center–Graduate School of Cancer Science and Policy in 2022 in South Korea. Since 2019, she has worked at Hanoi University of Public Health in Vietnam, where her research has revolved around tobacco control efforts in Vietnam. She contributed to several large tobacco-related projects in Vietnam with funding from the Vietnam Tobacco Control Fund-Ministry of Health, the Canadian Institutes for Health Research, and the US National Institutes of Health. As of January 2025, she has published 31 peer-reviewed articles, serving as the first author on 15 of them.

Effects of new pictorial cigarette pack warnings on Vietnamese smokers’ perceptions and smoking behaviours: A single-factor, between-subjects experimental study

Our study supports refreshing PHWs, showing that new PHWs with quitline information enhanced awareness of quitline services. Plain packaging with new PHWs increased the likelihood of forgoing cigarettes, a precursor to cessation attempts.
