Biography
I am Théo Fouchet, PhD student (4th year) supervised by Dr. Murielle Rochelet and Dr Alain Hartmann in University of Bourgogne, France. Based at the French National Reference Center of Mycobacteria (Paris), led by Pr. Emmanuelle Cambau, i am developping innovative molecular diagnostics for tuberculosis. I also recently assessed the clinical performance of the PATHFAST TB LAM Ag assay, a novel antigen test detecting lipoarabinomannan in sputum.
Key Impacts
Evaluation of clinical performances of the PATHFAST TB LAM Ag assay: A new diagnostic test for TB
In conclusion, the PATHFAST TB LAM Ag assay offers a rapid, easy to handle approach for detecting MTB in sputum. While low specificity was attributed to NTM cross-reactivity, this could be a potential for diagnosing NTM infections. The results in monitoring early treatment response are very promising since no tests are provided today in this indication. Further studies with more longitudinal data are warranted to confirm these findings.
