Biography

In 2014-2018 conducted her doctoral studies on the topic of immune response in TB in the Max Planck Institute for Infection Biology in Berlin. In 2018 joined the Tuberculosis Team in the Infectious Disease Epidemiology Department of the Robert Koch Institute as postdoctoral researcher. Her focus areas are development of integrated molecular surveillance of TB in Germany, TB surveillance systems and surveillance data analysis, and TB management in migrant populations. In 2022 joined unofficial European Platform for TB in Migrants and in 2024 became a chair of the ECDC Working Group on TB & Migrant Health.

Integrated genomic and epidemiological surveillance of TB in Germany, 2020-2024: Results from three cities

The identification of clusters spanning multiple regions and occurring long after migration highlights the critical role of WGS in nationwide TB surveillance. Integrating epidemiological and molecular data enhances the detection of transmission and events specific to risk groups or settings, making it a crucial tool for modern TB surveillance. These insights support the development of targeted interventions, ultimately strengthening transregional TB control efforts.
