Biography

Sok Chamreun CHOUB or so called as Chamreun is currently working with the Khmer HIV/AIDS NGO Alliance, known as KHANA in the Kingdom of Cambodia, as the Executive Director, but also the Chief of Party for the five-year USAID-funded Community Mobilization Initiative to End TB (COMMIT) under the USAID TB-Local Organization Networks mechanism. Chamreun has been working with KHANA, the local non-governmental organization over the past twenty-four-years, that work, and focus are on the prevention, care support and treatment for HIV/AIDS, TB, SRHR, other health related issues including NCD, promote and address HR and gender and UHC for key marginalize and vulnerable populations in Cambodia.

This study demonstrates that Hr-TB is prevalent in Cambodia, with the Xpert XDR assay serving as an important tool for detecting drug resistance. No significant associations were found between risk factors and mortality outcomes.

The suspension of USAID funding has led to a dramatic reduction in TB case detection, with over 50% fewer casesidentified in 2025 compared to 2024. This decline underscores the urgent need for alternative funding sources to maintain active screening programs and ensure continued TB case detection and control in Cambodia. Without immediate intervention, the disruption may hinder efforts to control TB and increase the risk of undiagnosed and untreated cases.
