Biography

Dr Sithabiso Dube is a public health programmer with fifteen years’ experience working in Uganda, Kenya and Zimbabwe. Having qualified with a medical degree, public health masters and a diploma in child health, she currently provides technical direction for the Union Zimbabwe Trust, a local organisation which supports evidence-based efforts by the government in TB control. Her roles include coordinating the TB response through strengthening health systems, resource mobilization, supervising experts and supporting scientific research. She has a seasoned understanding of TB, HIV and associated co-morbidities and is comfortable providing solutions at national, subnational and community levels.

Closing the gaps in TB detection: Evaluating a novel screening strategy on TB presumption and detection from Kunda Nqob’iTB project in Zimbabwe

The Stamp Strategy represents a simple intervention for enhancing TB case finding within facilities in Zimbabwe. Its implementation was associated with an increase in presumptive TB cases and overall TB cases. Reduced yield could be due to added clients presumed having mimickers of TB as well as difficulty in controlling for confounders. Additional assessment of treatment outcomes would be ideal.
