Biography

Sharon Sawe is a PhD student in Pharmacometrics at the University of Cape Town, Division of Clinical Pharmacology. She is originally from Kenya, with a background in biostatistics and data science. Dr Sawe’s research focuses on the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of second-line tuberculosis drugs in pregnant and breastfeeding women—populations often excluded from clinical trials. She applies mathematical modelling to understand drug disposition during pregnancy and lactation, and to support evidence-based dosing in these groups. She is passionate about maternal and child health and using pharmacometrics to improve treatment outcomes for these underrepresented populations.
