Key Impacts

Effect of secondary tuberculosis preventive therapy on posttreatment outcomes of people with HIV in Uganda

In Uganda, a country with high TB/HIV burden, routine sTPT did not improve posttreatment outcomes of PWH initiating ART who successfully completed TB treatment. Given the resource requirements of sTPT (e.g., drug costs, clinic workload), these resources may be more efficiently re-allocated to other TB control activities.
