Biography

Dr. Sayera Banu is a senior scientist whose research focuses on mycobacterial infections, epidemiology, diagnostics, and therapeutics, where she has fostered international and national collaborations. She currently also heads the Program for Emerging Infections under the Infectious Diseases Division at icddr, since 1991. She conducted the first-ever MDR-TB surveillance in Southeast Asia; She brought in new tools and technology in advancing TB diagnosis and management. Dr. Banu is a fellow of both Bangladesh Academy of Sciences and The World Academy of Sciences. She serves as a member in several scientific/programme committees and has over 120 publications in peer reviewed journals.
