Biography

Honorary Professor Rodney Dawson is a globally recognized pulmonologist and clinical researcher with over 20 years of experience in TB research. As Managing Director of the University of Cape Town Lung Institute, he leads high-impact clinical trials on TB treatment and prevention. A Stellenbosch graduate with specialist training from UCT, he has published widely in peer-reviewed journals and plays a key leadership role in global TB research networks. His work combines clinical expertise and scientific rigor to advance new TB therapeutics and vaccines, driving progress against one of the world’s most enduring infectious diseases.
