Biography

Richard is a medical doctor and researcher working as a study manager at Zambart focusing on research on tuberculosis, respiratory infections in children, and implementation science. He is also a PhD fellow under the Southern Africa Research Capacity Network (SOFAR) funded by EDCTP3 and his PhD topic focuses on validating mucosal biomarkers as a diagnostic tool in children with respiratory tract infections.

Diagnostic performance of novel TB infection skin tests and interferon-γ release assays (IGRAs) to detect TB infection in Ndola, Zambia: A pragmatic cluster randomised trial

Our study showed that the use of either Cy-TB or TB-Feron increased the chances of receiving correct TPT and reduced inappropriate TPT. This demonstrates the potential use of TB-Feron or Cy-TB as routine TBI tests.
