Biography

Rebecca Karimu Mtambo is a Senior Tuberculosis Quality Management Officer at the Ministry of Health in Malawi. She coordinates TB prevention and care activities at national and sub-national levels; contributed to the National TB Strategic Plan and Guidelines; championed the transition from 24-month injectable to shorter all-oral regimens for managing drug-resistant TB; and pioneered psychosocial and nutrition support for people with drug-resistant TB. Rebecca has contributed to TB research, including a photovoice study with young people affected by TB. She is also a national trainer for TB, HIV, and infection prevention and control as well as an antimicrobial stewardship champion.
