Biography

I am a tuberculosis researcher at the Institute of Tropical Medicine, Antwerp, specializing in tuberculosis diagnostics and drug resistance. My work focuses on the application of genomic and phenotypic methods to improve understanding of resistance mechanisms in drug-resistant TB. Prior to ITM, I worked with MSF in different countries, which made me gain extensive field experience in TB diagnostics.

Baseline resistance to new and repurposed anti-TB drugs in the endTB-Q clinical trial

These findings highlight the importance of baseline drug susceptibility testing, particularly in high resistance-prevalent settings. pR without gR may suggest gaps in our understanding of resistance mechanisms to new and repurposed anti-TB drugs. Minority variants may indicate early emergence of resistance, underscoring the need for rapid, sensitive diagnostics prior to treatment.
