Biography

Dr. Pichanon Mingchay is an Infectious Diseases fellow based in Thailand, a country endemic for tuberculosis (TB). His clinical and research interests focus on TB diagnostics and treatment strategies, particularly within resource-limited settings. Dr. Mingchay is committed to improving early and accurate TB diagnosis by addressing challenges such as limited laboratory infrastructure and restricted access to advanced diagnostic tools. Dedicated to reducing the TB burden, he actively works to bridge the gaps between evidence-based strategies and their practical implementation in resource-constrained contexts.

Nebulised bronchodilator-enhanced sputum induction in presumed smear-negative pulmonary TB: A randomised controlled trial (NeB-TB)

The novel sputum induction using nebulized bronchodilators demonstrated superiority over conventional induction, resulting in higher diagnostic yield, improved patient comfort, reduced need for invasive procedures, and accelerated initiation of TB treatment. This safe, cost-effective, and patient-friendly method could transform TB diagnostics, especially in resource-limited settings.
