Biography

Phumeza Tisile is a Research Assistant, TIME100 Next Honoree, Project Lead, and Advocacy Officer at TB Proof, based in Cape Town, South Africa. She also serves as an Adviser to the LIGHT global health research programme. With a degree in Social Sciences and roots in Khayelitsha, just outside Cape Town, Phumeza is a blogger who enjoys travelling and mountain climbing. In her own words, she is a “TB person,” more specifically a survivor of Extensively Drug-Resistant (XDR) TB, and she is committed to advocating for improved diagnosis and treatment of the disease.
