Biography

A public health physician and early career researcher in Uganda dedicated to developing and evaluating innovative solutions to improve prevention, treatment and care for children and adolescents with tuberculosis, as well as strengthening health care systems to address the global TB burden. I have practiced medicine for the past ten years in Uganda’s public health care system. I am interested in modeling epidemiological outcomes and implementation science, a to support child and adolescent health.

Key Impacts

Comparison of the National TB and Leprosy Program and World Health Organization criteria for pulmonary TB severity classification among children in Uganda

The NTLP criteria increased detection of children with severe TB that would have been missed by the WHO criteria without CXR, but at the cost of overtreating children with non-severe disease. Adjuvant tools are needed to guide TB severity for children in settings with limited access to chest X-rays.
