Biography

Opeyemi is an early career researcher with interest at the intersect of Biology, Computation, and Numeric analysis. He creates and employs computational tools to investigate Host-Pathogen Interactions, Evolutionary Biology, and Molecular Epidemiology of Tuberculosis (TB) infection. He’s currently researching the underlying factors impacting the persistence, evolution of drug resistance, and transmission dynamics of Mycobacterium tuberculosis pathogens in Nigeria and Africa. He aims to contribute to the development of digital innovations in TB genomic surveillance and the discovery of effective TB therapeutics.

Key Impacts

Integrating genomics and digital innovation for tuberculosis surveillance in Nigeria

This initiative promotes sustainable integration of genomics for TB surveillance. We anticipate that the NTBGS platform will foster equitable WGS adoption, enhance TB management, bolster the National TB program, and position national datasets as globally relevant resources to accelerate diagnostic and therapeutic discoveries, vaccine design, and evidence-based interventions.
