Biography

Ole Skouvig Pedersen is a 5th year medical student at Aarhus University, Denmark. Since his pre-graduate research year last year, he has been involved in multiple international projects, mainly within the TBnet, and has authored several peer-reviewed publications. He is currently working on his master’s thesis, which will revolve around the effectiveness of TB contact investigations in Denmark.

Sex differences in risk factors for unsuccessful TB treatment outcomes: A retrospective cohort study of six Eastern European countries, 2020-2022

Male sex was associated with worse outcomes but adjusting for clinical and socio-demographic factors attenuated the association, suggesting behavioural rather than biological drivers. Prospective studies are needed to confirm these findings.
