Biography

Khuat Thi Hai Oanh, a medical doctor with a Master’s from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, is Executive Director of SCDI, which she co-founded to improve the lives of marginalized communities. She has served in global roles including Chair of Council of APCASO, Member of WHO’s advisory group on HIV, Viral Hepatitis and STI, UHC2030 Steering Committee member, member of M72 Trial Steering Committee, member of Scientific Advisory Board to ANRS|MIE. Her research spans HIV, drug addiction, tuberculosis, dengue, and mental health. Oanh was the first Vietnamese Yale World Fellow (2005), a Young Global Leader by WEF (2009), and recipient of the Dedonder Clayton Award (2014). Forbes Vietnam named her among the 50 Most Influential Vietnamese Women (2017), and in 2023, she was appointed Chevalier de l'Ordre National du Mérite by the French President.
