Biography

Nisreen is a paediatric doctor in the UK, who is currently doing a PhD at the University of Oxford on evaluating and optimising novel TB diagnostics She is part of the FEND for TB consortium, working on paediatric clinical studies in Uganda. Her research interests are bioinformatics, immunology and paediatric infectious diseases.

Nasal host gene expression in adults with pulmonary TB and HIV in Uganda

This study suggests that there are distinct immune responses to PTB in the nose, compared with blood. Differences in nasal gene expression in adults with HIV who have PTB, versus those without PTB, highlight their potential as TB diagnostic biomarkers.
