Biography
Dr Nicky McCreesh is an Associate Professor in infectious disease modelling at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. She is interested in the mathematical modelling of tuberculosis, and in understanding the role of heterogeneity (e.g. in contact patterns, infectiousness, natural history, and health seeking behaviour) in the transmission, prevention, and care of TB in high burden settings.
Key Impacts
Modelling ‘targeted universal testing for TB’ vs symptom-based screening in South Africa
SBS needed a modest increase in Xpert tests, but improved yields, resulted in greater reductions in TB incidence, and improved TB outcomes by a greater amount than TUTT. The impact of TUTT may be undermined by its focus on PWH, a group in which the coverage of clinic-based testing is already relatively high.
