Biography

Negussie Beyene (Ph.D., MPH) has more than three decades of research experience in bioanalytical chemistry, biomedical sciences, and environmental public health. He conducted his postdoctoral research at the University of Pretoria (South Africa) and Universitat Rovira i Virgili, Tarragona (Spain). For the last seventeen years, he has been actively engaged in TB diagnostic research using trained African pouched rats. Dr Beyene has published about 60 articles and book chapters in diverse research areas; 20 were on TB detection by trained rats. He was the first ever TWAS Young Affiliate Fellow and Founding member of the Global Young Academy.
