Impact of alcohol use on treatment outcomes amongst drug-resistant people with TB in Kenya

. Alcohol consumption negatively impacts DR-TB treatment, emphasizing the need for integrated care approaches that include alcohol reduction strategies to enhance TB treatment outcomes. While alcohol use was associated with certain demographic and clinical factors, it did not directly influence treatment outcomes after multivariable adjustment. Its impact on adherence and immune function may indirectly affect treatment success. These findings highlight the need for integrated care, including alcohol management, to improve DR-TB outcomes, especially in high-risk areas.
