Key Impacts

Tuberculosis-related sepsis is associated with increased in-hospital mortality across Universal Vital Assessment mortality risk score groups in adults in Mbarara, Uganda

Adults with TB-related sepsis were at higher risk of death compared to those without TB even after stratifying for severity of illness. A high index of clinical suspicion for TB, improved TB diagnostics, and more efficacious anti-TB therapies are urgently needed for patients with sepsis in Africa.
