Biography

Associate Professor of Infectious Diseases, Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna (Italy), with 20+ years on clinical management of people affected by TB at national and international level. Her main fields of interest are: TB epidemiology at global level, TB prevalence surveys, clinical management of TB, MDR-TB, Childhood TB. She has been collaborating with Global TB Programme, World Health Organization since 2007, particularly on providing technical support to countries planning, preparing and implementing TB Prevalence Surveys. She also collaborated in data analysis and dissemination. She is also a Tb survivor.

Asymptomatic TB: A new challenge

TB disease can present with advanced radiological findings and high bacillary load also in individuals not reporting symptoms. It is crucial not to rule out TB solely based on the absence of symptoms, especially in high-risk groups.
