Biography
Mangaliso Ziyane is Senior TB Sequencing Laboratory Technologist, with experience of implementing sequencing technologies in Eswatini. I have been instrumental in introduction of targeted next generation sequencing, with involvement from protocol development to results utelization. I have been involved in adopting TB Sequencing into routine practices, where we have seen in increase in the detection of MDR TB in eswatini.

The presence of various lineages, along with the indication of differing drug resistance profiles among them, underscores the genetic diversity of M. tuberculosis in Eswatini. The study concluded that due to the Deeplex kit's inability to fully distinguish Lineage 4, whole-genome analysis would be essential for a more comprehensive understanding of the genetic diversity.
