Biography

Madhavi has worked as a practicing surgeon and a clinician in tribal areas of Chhattisgarh for more than 10 years. Her special Interests are Public health Nutrition and the role of nutrition in communicable and noncommunicable diseases. She received the inaugural KV Desikan Award for her work in infectious diseases in vulnerable tribal populations.
Currently, she is working as a professor in community medicine in Yenepoya Medical College, Karnataka. She loves mentoring students in doing socially relevant research.

How does the family perceive TB deaths? Qualitative analysis of TB deaths in the RATIONS trial

Understanding family circumstances and local belief systems is important to improve TB-care. Bolstering an integrated, quality, and easier continuum of care that is respectful and patient-centered and covers prevailing communicable and non-communicable diseases, mental health issues, and injuries is essential. Hospitalization prior to TB death is resource-intensive and is a barrier to mortality reduction efforts.
