Lucy, an epidemiologist with more than 15 years of experience in public health research, has led numerous mixed-methods studies examining the epidemiology of HIV, TB, and COVID in low- and middle-income countries. Her current research interests center on identifying strategies to optimize tuberculosis prevention in programmatic settings for individuals living with HIV.

In programmatic settings, TPT was well tolerated, but common treatment interruptions highlighted the need for patient-centered strategies to minimize them. Additionally, objective measurement of TPT completion is needed to address overreporting. Most TB in this TPT-exposed population was asymptomatic, leading to missed diagnoses, suggesting alternative approaches to standard symptom screening towards improving timely diagnosis.
