Biography
I am a 28-year-old final-year Pulmonology resident at the University of Milan. Throughout my medical and specialist training, I have focused on respiratory infectious diseases, with a particular interest in tuberculosis. Together with my co-author Irene Sini, I completed a training period at the Villa Marelli TB Reference Center in Milan, followed by fieldwork in Senegal, where we conducted the study presented in this abstract.
Key Impacts
Previous pulmonary TB as a risk factor for lung functional impairment: A cross-sectional study in a rural area of Senegal
PTLD is associated with a high burden of ventilatory impairment in rural Senegal. Prior TB is a strong predictor of functional decline. Routine functional and radiological follow-up after TB treatment completion is feasible and valuable in rural low-income settings to detect lung functional impairment.
