Ms. Louise Pretorius is a Project Manager at the Aurum Institute, based at the Tembisa Clinical Research Centre in Gauteng, South Africa. She supports clinical research under the IMPAACT4TB grant, focusing on short-course treatment for latent TB. Formerly a Quality Manager, she has extensive experience in TB and HIV prevention trials. Her expertise includes regulatory compliance, quality systems, staff training, monitoring coordination, and site readiness. Ms. Pretorius plays a key role in ensuring protocol adherence, stakeholder engagement, and high standards in trial implementation, with a strong commitment to collaboration and public health outcomes.

Maternal TB infection risk in pregnant women living with HIV

We found a high prevalence of TBI among pregnant women, with multiple risk factors for TBI, underscoring the need for data on shorter TPT regimens in this population. Alcohol and tobacco use may be associated with maternal TBI. Counselling of Pregnant PLHIV on tobacco use and alcohol consumption is needed.
