Biography

Leslie Enane is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics in the Ryan White Center for Pediatric Infectious Disease and Global Health at Indiana University School of Medicine, and the Director of Pediatric HIV Services at Riley Hospital for Children. She collaborates in the Academic Model Providing Access to Healthcare (AMPATH) Consortium, and in the East Africa region of the NIH-funded International Epidemiologic Database to Evaluate AIDS (IeDEA). She serves as Co-Chair of the Multiregional TB Sentinel Research Network of IeDEA. Dr. Enane’s research centers on HIV and TB care for children and adolescents.

“Make sure you involve us”: Experiences and care needs among youth with TB in East Africa

Youth experiences of delayed TB diagnosis, stigmatization, adherence barriers, and food insecurity have implications for TB transmission, treatment outcomes, and post-TB health. Multiple opportunities exist to improve youth TB outcomes. Interventions leveraging youth-led supports and meaningful youth involvement are needed.
