Key Impacts
Who benefits from community-based active TB screening programmes? Diagnostic yields, early detection, and demographics
In this active screening program, TB Móvil effectively identified individuals earlier in their course of TB disease compared to individuals presenting at local health facilities. Youths and young adults (aged 15-29) were disproportionately diagnosed with TB via TB Móvil, indicating them as an important subgroup among which to focus future engagement strategies. To end the TB epidemic, global efforts must prioritize active screening to reach the undiagnosed earlier and target high-risk groups more effectively.
