Key Impacts
Boosting TB prevention: The role of community volunteers in increasing uptake of TB preventive treatment among household contacts in Haryana, India
The intervention clearly demonstrates that engaging trained Community Volunteers significantly improves the uptake, adherence, and completion of TPT among household contacts in high-burden, underserved regions. The remarkable increase in treatment completion from 23% to 75% and the reduction in loss to follow-up to 5% underscore the critical role of community-based support in strengthening TB prevention efforts. This model holds strong potential for replication in other similar high burden resource-limited settings.
