Operational challenges inTB laboratory networks: An analysis of delays in specimen processing and result reporting

This study highlights delays in specimen processing and reporting which can be addressed through a phased-intervention framework involving; immediate deployment of automated specimen tracking systems to minimize transportation delays, mid-term enhancement to rapid diagnostic capacity in high-volume laboratories, and long-term implementation of digital reporting platforms with real-time delay alerts. These interventions can be integrated with targeted workforce expansion and continuous performance monitoring for sustained improvements in laboratory efficiency, diagnostic turnaround-time, and patient outcomes and satisfaction.
