Biography
Dr. Sekandi is an Associate Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics and serves as the Director of the Global Health Institute at the University of Georgia. Dr. Sekandi is a physician-scientist with over 15 years of experience in research on tuberculosis and HIV focusing on Africa. She has expertise in digital technologies and the application of artificial intelligence to address barriers to adherence to TB treatment and health services to improve access and health outcomes in underserved population. Lastly, she conducts research among TB survivors to evaluate the burden of disability and the quality-of-life post -treatment.
