Biography

Dr. Joseph Baruch Baluku is an internal medicine physician and clinical researcher at the Makerere University Lung Institute and Kiruddu National Referral Hospital in Uganda. His research focuses on tuberculosis (TB), HIV, and their long-term complications, including cardiometabolic and respiratory outcomes. He has led and collaborated on several studies exploring host-pathogen interactions, TB-associated comorbidities, and post-TB sequelae. Dr. Baluku is also a recipient of multiple research fellowships and awards supporting early-career investigators in global health. He is passionate about advancing evidence-based care for TB survivors and improving health outcomes through translational research and multidisciplinary collaboration.
