Biography

Joowhan Sung is an infectious diseases physician-scientist and Assistant Professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. His research focuses on the evaluation of diagnostic tools for tuberculosis, including Xpert Ultra and computer-aided detection software, through clinical field studies conducted in sub-Saharan Africa.

CAD identified a high burden of undetected cardiomegaly and associated untreated hypertension among TB screening participants in Uganda. Integrating cardiomegaly assessment into CAD-based TB screening has the potential to aid early detection of cardiovascular disease.
