Although the overall treatment success rate among HCWs was high, the findings highlight the need to address gaps in care, particularly about mortality and LTFU. To address gaps, targeted strategies are needed to enhance treatment adherence, TB Preventive Treatment (TPT), and robust workplace infection prevention and control measures. Additionally, understanding the extent of stigma and discrimination among HCWs requires further study.

This evaluation demonstrates the potential of low-cost, open-source tools to strengthen diagnostic logistics. The system’s adaptability, rising usage, and integration into supervision workflows make it a scalable model for improving health system performance and public health responsiveness.

The yearly increase in TB among healthcare workers in Zambia indicates a growing occupational health crisis requiring urgent intervention. With the increasing TB incidence among HCWs, healthcare facilities should prioritize implementation of TB infection prevention and control strategies, regular screening of healthcare workers, and prompt initiation of preventive therapy. These findings underscore the critical need for enhanced occupational protection policies to safeguard the health workforce.
