Biography

I am a pulmonologist and TB researcher. I see and treat patients with TB as an attending pulmonologist at the university-affiliated hospital. My research works broadly concentrate on various aspects of TB infection, from latent TB infection to active TB disease, and both drug-susceptible and drug-resistant TB. I am a principal investigator of the multicenter prospective observational cohort study, funded by the Korea National Institute of Health, investigating biomarker for diagnosis and treatment of pulmonary TB.

Key Impacts

Disability is a risk factor for 1-year mortality after TB diagnosis in Korea

People with disabilities exhibit a higher 1-year mortality rate after tuberculosis diagnosis than those without disabilities. Tailored healthcare interventions and policies to improve anti-TB treatment outcomes for people with disabilities are necessary.
