Biography

I’m Jiahan Kelly Peng, an MSc Global Health and Development student at UCL. My interests lie in improving health outcomes for underserved communities, particularly in infectious diseases. This stems from my academic background in infectious disease epidemiology and global health policy, as well as voluntary work in inclusion health. I currently run health promotion workshops with St Mungo’s Homelessness Charity and volunteer with Find and Treat, a specialist outreach team identifying and treating TB in homeless populations. I’m eager to deepen my understanding of the unique health challenges certain groups face and contribute to reducing health inequalities.

Key Impacts

Investigating the association between TB infection and multimorbidity in people with diabetes

Participants with both diabetes and TB infection had multiple TB risk factors and concurrent NCD comorbidities beyond diabetes. Although the prevalence was similar regardless of TBI status, the additional vulnerability due to these conditions highlights a need for targeted TB preventive strategies.
